5月30日の正午、自宅の焼け跡にてアメリカ連邦政府から派遣された陸軍工兵隊のチームによる、自宅のがれき撤去の詳細の打ち合わせが行われました。（撤去直前の、自宅の最後の姿をカメラに収めました。）
打ち合わせの概略です。

＊暖炉の煙突の最上部のみできる限り残してもらう（この家の中で私が一番好きなディテールです）
30分ほどの打ち合わせの後、妻と私はいったん帰宅して、そのあとすぐに重機を使っての撤去作業が開始されました。
一か月ほど前から今か今かと待ち続けていたのですが、13年間住み慣れた家に別れを告げるのは『猫派の自分』には非常に悲しく感慨深いものがありました。
撤去作業は夕方までに完了し管轄の役人による認定が下りれば、別のチームによる焼失樹木の伐採作業に移ります。（後ほど、撤去作業中の短い動画を送ってもらえるそうです。）

陸軍から派遣された隊員の皆さんは非常に礼儀正しく、かつ言葉がやさしく、「あなたたちに少しでも喜んでもらえるよう全力を尽くします。」と言っていただき気持ちが休まりました。
